About somapsyche

somapsyche was established by Marie Hartigan in Dunfermline, Fife. Marie first became interested in yoga in the mid '80's, whilst training as a teacher. She has since worked in Training, Social Work and Further Education, specialising in education for people with Special or Additional Support Needs.

She decided to follow her long held dream of helping people reach their full potential, in particular incorporating yoga into the school curriculum, and bringing yoga to children, young people and disabled people. She is committed to helping people to find the skills they need to maintain a peaceful mind in an increasingly unpeaceful world. She believes it is essential to help children acquire these skills before they become overwhelmed by the stresses of exams, adult life, etc.

Marie qualified with the Anahata School of Yoga, and has undertaken further specialist training in Children's Yoga and Yoga for the Special Child. She is registered as a qualified yoga teacher with:

Marie is passionate about yoga and believes that all learning should be fun - her classes are full of laughter, energy and spontaneity as well as helping to find the quiet space within each individual.

An enthusiastic practitioner who enjoys sharing her wealth of experience, Marie’s yoga teaching focuses on Yoga for Children and Special Yoga. She also provides bespoke training packages and workshops for Local Authorities, nursery workers, parents and other carers.

In addition to yoga classes, Marie also lectures in Learning Difficulties / Disabilities at the Adam Smith College, Fife and offers Sports, Remedial and Swedish Massage.
